About Balram

Building the systems behind the exchange.

I'm Balram, the person behind OrionaTech.

I started out curious, self-taught, and drawn to hard problems. That curiosity eventually led into cryptocurrency exchange infrastructure: the OpenWare, Peatio, and Barong stack; Rails backends handling real money; and Next.js frontends people actually trade on.

It's not the friendliest corner of software. Mistakes are expensive and uptime isn't optional. That is exactly what pulled me in.

OrionaTech grew out of that work. What began as freelance Rails and Next.js development became a focused practice for production-grade crypto exchanges, vertical SaaS products, and the infrastructure that keeps them running: AWS EKS, Docker, Kubernetes, and the full delivery pipeline.

Open-source work

Useful beyond one client.

I built kraken_bridge, an open-source Ruby gem for the OpenWare ecosystem. It has reached more than 2,100 downloads on RubyGems—a small but meaningful signal that the work solves a problem beyond a single project.

Since December 2025, OrionaTech has worked with teams building exchanges and vertical SaaS products, including Reel Store and Rumatec Vetcare. Every project has taught me something I didn't know going in, which is more or less the point.

I'm now deepening into FastAPI and extending my work beyond Rails, because the stack that got me here isn't necessarily the stack that gets me to the next place.

Have a hard software problem worth fixing?
